Spice of Life Catering and Events
is owned and operated by Heidi Clark in Southern Ohio. I am a graduate of Carson Newman College in Tennessee where I majored in Family and Consumer Science Education aka Home Economics. As a student I was the catering intern on campus and loved it. There is a definite passion in me for food, service, and hard work. Being raised on a tobacco/cattle farm is what I attribute my ability for hard work. Almost everyone's response when I tell them I am a caterer is "I hope you are full of energy!" To me, energy is sparked by excitement and nothing excites me more than executing someone's once-in-a-lifetime event or livening up their boring office meeting with a scrumptious lunch!
As a young child, my entrepreneural skills emerged. Every summer my dad would plant beans in the water rows of the tobacco fields. He'd then allow me to pick them and sell them to our local produce markets and annual repeat customers. Many hot, back-breaking summer days were spent picking those beans. Anyone that attended high school with me more than likely purchased one of my hard suckers I sold daily. Rarely was there a night that I did not spend hours boiling syrup, preparing and pouring the molds, and wrapping them, all for a mere 25 cents each. My most creative, yet unproffitable, adventure had to be when I was about 8 years old at my grandma's farm. She always sold fresh farm eggs and had a sign out by the roadside. I had the great idea to sell "switches" to parents needing to discipline their children while traveleing. My sister and I found some great green switches, made a sign like grandma's egg sign, and set for hours by the roadside. No,we did not sell any. A valuable lesson was taught to me that day....
